nhamngahanh, this template is genius. i've done it, 4 hours in front of pc. i've done some minor tweaking and the rest will be completed soon. anyway, kudos for your effort of making this template. million thanks to you.

btw, i've encountered the same problem with hakim at first. i can't open any of my post whether its in the blog section or the gallery section. secondly, the footer is crash and not well aligned. The problem is solved when I've added 4 photos to the gallery section and 5 post to the blog section. and then all of the post are working like a charm. i don't know how to explain that.

hakim, i've encountered the same problem with your blog. just create 4 photos to the gallery section and 5 post to the blog
section. the important thing is that you labelled it correct for each post.

Vincentius, you must labelled each of your post on the blog section correctly. it must have 'blog' label in or it will not work.

anybody has an idea how to have it correctly show portrait style images?

@Meowie Kat : the words 'blog' and 'gallery' are used to separate blog posts into two kinds . All posts marked with label 'gallery' will be considered as images in gallery . the rest of posts which marked with label 'blog' will be considered as post in blog and showed as normal blog .So changing in 'gallery' and 'blog' words are involved to the whole template structure .

I have, however, a problem:

Images don't show up in the gallery. I have created 4 posts labeled "gallery" + 5 posts labeled "blog". The structure of every post is as follows: first I inserted a picture, then just added a test text.
The pictures in the posts show up fine, but in the gallery all I got is only a "no image" error...

@Thangaraju.S : pls read again my install instruction and the function of each element in template . There are two section in template ,they are :blog and photo gallery . If you labeled your post with "gallery" ,your post will be shown as gallery style ( one photo per page ) .That's because this template for photo gallery ,so I think one photo per post is the best for photographer . If you want to show more ,or write something ,pls labeled your post with " blog" and your blog post will be shown as normal .

Thanks for the template. What is the ideal size for the pictures? If I use blogger Large setting, it doesn't seem to be large enough for the blog pages (which means the photo gets re-sized and looks blurry). Yet if I use the X-Large, the photos are too big for the gallery menu pages.

hello, how do i place an image as the background instead of just plain white? great template!

I have the template up and running and I have test pictures in my gallery and they're running fine and I even have my logo up.

However, when I put up a post meant to be a blog (blog written in label part) the bottom part of the page is distorted and the links to the gallery no longer shows the picture posts. I've saved my blog post as a draft so right now the page is correct.

Do you have any idea on why it would do that?

OK got the blog part figured out but how do I get the subscribe button working? I click on subscribe and it refreshes the home page. Also, how do I get other pictures to appear around the slideshow like it does in your sample?

I am having similar problems to MyreCat. I have labelled everything correctly and have put in the suggested amount of blogs and pics. but the blogs keep showing up in the galleries and vice versa. And i cant seem to create the categories without all of the posts blending into 1.

Ok, I seem to have gotten things somewhat working. I posted an image that was 683px width and it is still showing up stretched. Also all of my images are pixeled', what size image do you recommend and what blogger size (small, med, lg, xl)? The images that I posted in the 'blog' section look fine in the post but are stretched/smashed in the side menu (thumbnails).

Also, I see you posted to @dahn jacobs concerning the names of 'gallery' and 'blog'. Can you help explain a little more how to get those changed as well as how to delete the 'subscribe'?

I really like your template and really would like to get some use out of it, but my patience with this is growing thin with each hour I spend trying to get it right.

To add to my last post - you mentioned in your instructions that:
"You get a template file in xml format and a folder for images. You can upload images to an image hosting and change links in template file accordingly .In template file ,I uploaded images to Imageshack hosting which is unlimited bandwidth ,so you don't need to upload images."

This may be why I'm having problems with my images, when I downloaded this I didn't receive a folder for images as you mentioned (i've uploaded every image i have on my blog/gallery). I also tried uploading to Imageshack and try to embed it into the post and this doesn't work (it shows the words 'no image').

hello. although i have labeled posts, the do not show up after clicking on the appropriate label sub category under the Gallery menu. When I try to click on the subcategory, it states that no pictures are under that category, even though i have labeled the pictures for that category. any help would be appreciated. please see my blog here: http://wewillseex.blogspot.com/search/label/gallery

A tip for everyone,

My images were showing perfectly ... then I switched Blogspot feed settings to "PARTIAL" feeds... and the pictures disapeared! (They showed NO IMAGE).

Once I returned my feed settings to "FULL" everything went back to normal.

It's working perfectly. Great theme!

@JENNIFER SOUN LEE : To make line height more consistent in the blog post,you can find this code in CSS section of template :

line-height:22px;
margin:0;
padding:0 0 10px;
}
and change the value of line-height to the value you want . Down the value for more consistent .

To increase the line-height in about me page ,in CSS section ,add these line :

@Revista High : you need to add the right label for each post as my instruction said above . And you will see it work .
For a mini gallery in each posts,you can add the images in each blog post as normal ,use Blogger editor tool to arrange them in colums and row . Read my tutorial on adding lightbox effect to Blogger ,and add this effect to Blog . you will have a small gallery in your posts .It's just mixing some tips and tricks.
To add another ad slot ,you can add find this block code :

There is currently a major problem. The home page featured gallery suddenly stopped working tonight. The images are all over the place and the slider isn't working! This is affecting everyone using this template, even your own live demo version. What happened? Did one of your hosted JavaScript files go offline or something? :(

I really like your blog template.
I have one issue - and if anyone else is having the same issue, please let me know.
When my blog is opened with Firefox or Google Chrome it works perfectly (slider works and everything else is in the right place).
When I opened it with Internet Explorer, the slider is gone completely, and "Recent Entries" and "Categories" are flushed to the left instead of right. I also get this error, and on the bottom it says 'Error on Page'

really like your template and i'm really grateful that you share it... there is some problem with the gallery slider... i've updated it and it seems that the pictures will not load...

i've follow your instruction and uploaded all my pictures with 683 pixel width but all my picture still looks bad... pixel all the way... i tried uploading with a much bigger file and the problem still exists... any help is much appreciated...

I have almost everything working well.

Few issues.

1. In the demo I see the slider + 3 images to the right.
Mine only shows one and then too many rows down.
2. In the Gallery, there are three images across, I would prefer four. And again too many rows.

3. My blog posts are badly formatted. All images that were centered are now aligned to the left.
Text that is in div tags for centering now looks smaller than the rest of the post text. And it has ended up beside the images rather than under them.

4. Where can I change the font style of the posts?

@Dave : In this template ,images are resized by adding fixed width and height ,so if your image size is larger or smaller ,it will be distorted . Just test all sizes available and find the best for you because you all have different needs in image size and quality ,so I can't provide one value that fit all . In a stand alone platform ,they use server side script to resize image in server ,so the image won't be distorted . But in Blogger ,all script we added are client side script .
@Monica : you are not using my template ,so I can't help you .Maybe another template good for your work.
@Senoux :I don't know what exactly do you want .But I came accross your blog and see you did not follow all my instruction above . I write it down again :
-To show post in slider ,go to Page element widget ,click on edit link in Gallery widget . Enter the widget title "gallery" and content of widget "gallery" ( as seen in picture in the instruction )
title of this widget is the label which posts showed in slider ,and content of this widget is the label which posts showed outside the slider .
-every time you want to make a post in gallery ,create a post in Blogger post editor ,and insert the image follow by a text describe image content ,like you did with two posts exist .Then add a label for them "gallery"
-To make a post in blog section ,just create a post as normal and add label "blog" .
That's all .
In your blog ,you didn't enter the content of gallery widget ,so it can't display posts outside the slider .
Add more post and you will see how it work .Not much to say if you have only two posts and spaming "bad bad bad" around my blog (without describe more what you are encountering )

actually its the best one.... but there was some problem i've got

1. in "home" its only show 1 slide show and 12 thumbnail or gallry... the problem is, i've 17 entry and 5 other not show, can you make a button for older post or something like that

2. the slideshow only show 5 images

3. the blog post badly format. all image in center became align left and the text show beside the image, rather than under them

4. can the gallery post show not only 1 image, now only show 1 image and body text.... can i add several image for the gallery post like blog post

5. the subscribe isnt working

I would like to add videos to the Portfolio template instead of images. This way, when I add a video it will generate a thumbnail in the gallery.

the homepage layout goes haywire
when when click the "Blog" at the menu, it shows an empty column.

about the js file updated, the image doesnt loads, it juz kept showing the loading bar non stop.....

Got it working... I thought I should say why:

I couldn't fix it successfully with the manual patch, and I only managed to fix it by installing the template again from the latest XML template file.

Made the google custom search, and then, before I even noticed, it started working...

Also, I have a problem with my blog post. Every time i uploaded the images on blog posts, it didn't align to the center as it supposed to instead it aligned to the left. Is it by default?

@mizahmidge : for the first question ,I answerd once .The reason is very simple ,this template is for photographer who want to show their artwork and some text to describe the idea behind this photo .So I made one photo in big size in one post ,not multiple pictures. If you want to show more picture in a post ,you can consider to use others template ^^
for the second question ,I see two pages of your blog are working properly ,maybe you fixed them yourself .

Great Blog Template! I am very new to blogging - so not sure if I am doing this correctly.

I installed the xml template as mentioned. How do I get that gallery section with the slide show and different pictures to show up on the home page. Do I need to link my picture and logo through imageshack? or can it be done through uploading on my hard drive.

Among all templates I've tried for my blog this one is the greatest, however I'm ecountering some problems I haven't been able to fix and I'm posting first.
There have also been some others that I solved and I'm posting at the bottom of this thread in order to help other users.

1st of all, could you please just let me know what I should change in the coding so vertical images can be shown without being distorted?
This is extremely crucial for a photoblog, please answer back.

2nd, how could i change the overall size of the site, e.g. make it 600px long? This is also very important for viewing the site on mobile phones.

Now, concerning problems I've already figured out:
in order to fix the code with the replacement nhamngahanh mentions above, check "expand widgets" 'cause there are 2 places the script exists in and in order to make the slider work u need to change both.

What's more, in order to make the menu work properly u need to have at least 5 posts labelled under "blog". if u only have say...3 "text" posts under "blog" you can't get to see content in any tab of the menu. If you only have 3 text posts though and you still want the menu to work, put the label "blog" in just 2 of your "photo" posts.


Please answer back nhamngahan for the 2 questions of mine at the top of the thread.

1,In my opinion ,you should use a photo editing software for resize image and make them a good proportion before posting,for example with a vertical image ,you can add white space around image to make it a horizontal image . The reason is very simple ,you know ,Blogger doesn't support server side programing ,it mean all the script is only javascript and it is executed on client-side only . So there's no code for changing scale of image,there's only code for hiding some parts of image (like cropping) ,but it take resource and increase the loading time .All I can do is only set a fixed size and make all of images displayed in this size .

For the second question ,you can see my post on how to use firebug on making template customization . After reading this ,I hope you can make changes on whatever element you want without worrying .

@Radit_Hanif: for the common code snipets of recent posts ,recent comments ,you can search on my blog ,there's a post on these . After knowing them ,and checking the code I used in this template ,you will understand what changes I made . They are all tiny changes and you just need some minutes to figure it out .

@L.A.R. : I don't understand your request .There's a post on how to install jquery lightbox pluggin in blogger . In that post ,I told how to use the lightbox effect with actual image photo (in full size) and thumbnail . Hope it helpful to you

In the 'before/HEAD' script of my template
I use 'jquery ligtbox script' I've done the same way that you recommend..
And I put the 'rel="lightbox"' in the 'a' tag of the linked image in the post but don't run
I think another script prevents the existence of links in post images. But I do not know how to change it. My knowledge of javascript is very limited.

sorry to bother you once again, it's that the more time I give to the themplate, the more I understand.

Concenring "fit-to-thumb" images, I knew that since the result comes from an outside script, can't really be scaled, however I tried this:

I found 4 fields on the coding that gave size to the thumbnail (210x155) and:
1. in one, when I left the height field blank, I got to see different size of thumbnails, depending on wether the image was vertical or horizontal but creating white spaces between them which wasn't suitable.

2. Then I erased the height in another part and I got to see my vertical images cropped but on the top part of them, see this screen please:http://photokaeler.blogspot.com/
How can I write in the coding that I want vertical images cropped in the middle? or...

3. In another part, I erased the width and I got image's height fit to thumbnail but placed on the left, see please :http://photokaeler.blogspot.com/search/label/gallery
again, how could I ask the image to be placed in the middle?

*I also changed the numposts=* on the slider, but any number different than 5 messes up with the body. Site becomes "thinner".

*Geotagging doesn't show on the posts. However on the simple mobile version of the site, where only posts are visible, geotagging is visible!

*I also added a google+ button but I would really like to know how can I insert it on "share this" label above posts.

Sorry to bother you, having created this template is already great, I'm just sharing these notes with you in case you're too interested on how everything actually works per user.

I wish too the pictures were clickable to open a fullsize view of the picture in lightbox effect.
This is very important for photographers to show the true quality of the pictures. Still do not know if this is possible, but I think it would be a great improvement for this gorgeous blogger template.

Hello, I find your template just great! But after test I've decided not to use it because of image deformations in thumbnails. I've read abuot these client-side/server-side image processings, but there's way to solve it as simple as CSS clip:rect feature. Here the usage http://www.w3schools.com/cssref/pr_pos_clip.asp
So why not try it out in new version of the template? It shows only a cropped fragment of image, BUT shows it in right proportions. I've done it in my image portfolio at http://www.neznayer.org/p/portfolio.html (its a blogger template, I just bought a domain) Best regards.

2, I always want you-all host the javascript in your host or host them in your blogger template ,because my host is not stable and it reach the limitation of freehosting .
Search for js files and solution in my blog ,in 'blogger' category .
I repeat the message 'host the js files yourself' hundreds of time :D
3,I think it possible . And I will try to implement the gallery when I have times . Pls subscribe to my blog to keep track on updates .

The theme is awesome but i dont know why the following 2 things dont happen to work properly.

1. Recent Artwork and Recent Blog post widgets not working properly on any specific image post clicking which opens after we clicking on any image on home page.
2. the middle section after the ad widget is not appearing.

I seriously want to use this widget but am not able to due to these problems. :(

This template is simply wonderful! It's exactly what I wanted, but all of the coding is confusing.

I had two main questions and it would be great if you could take the time to answer them.

At first I thought I might have screwed up the coding when trying to alter the html myself. this is one of the best photoblog template i have come across..

nhamngahanh, it would be great if you can please clean the template a bit. I tired a bit but screwed up everything and reverted back to original. please note some of points.
1. if number of post under 'blog' label is less (2-3), the entire alignment will be lost.

2. recent post javascript on main page miss < /div > end tag causing alignment problem.
3. since some javascript is hosted within template and some on 110mb. it unecessarly increase loading time. either remove all javascript and host external or host everything within template. (suggestion only)
4.photos are streched to fit thumbnail size, it spoils the image (photography blog).
5. same applies when enlarging photo in blog post page, it steals the photos beauty.
